Sony audio question

Just bought an R52, PD 01/2007 used for the Mrs. I would like to use BT for her phone but pressing the R/T button on the MFSW does nothing. There is also no BT pairing button that I can find in the center console. The "No Phone" display on the HU does not function at all as indicated in the manual. My MINI has original HK enhanced S645A HU and AUX plug-in inside the glove box. Works well, stations step, CD steps and volume changes using 3 spoke MFSW. Using AUX cable connected to her Android Razor she can converse through the car speakers and mic. From what I have read, this means that some equipment has not been installed that would allow for BT functionality.
In light of this, I am looking at replacing my HU the Sony MEX-N5000BT and would like to know if anyone has installed it and if they were able to use ths MFSW buttons to phone others afterwards.
Although I am not an audiophile, sound quality and features seem to be good ?

Thanks for doing your homework before posting. This live thread may be of interest.

Essentially the HK amp is an iBus DSP amp more similar to the E38 Philips/Lear than E46 H/K and cannot be powered up without an iBus message from the HU.

This can be spoofed with the HK Enabler or the Arduino Enabler project.

Is this 100% correct, you are using a mic installed in the car? This is not expected.

Thanks much Joylove

I appreciate you sharing your incredible knowledge on this topic. This is way too much trouble for me. She can live with the NUVI BT or plug into the AUX. Sorry I didn't go back to the Lexus now. All you had to do was pair once and get into the car with your phone. Cleaver how the MFSW tricks you into thinking it could be connected to something of value! Oh well, at least she thinks the car is cute. I only paid $14k with 34k miles so if the trans, top, PS, PS fan, and timing chain don't get me I might escape unscathed.

Perhaps you are correct and mic inputs while using the Android via AUX cable came from the Android rather than the in-car mic.
