audio upgrade and custom sub enclosure

Hey guys,

I just finished the build I've been working on for a couple of weeks. There have been some really amazing threads on this site that I Learned a lot from in terms of installing a new system. I had never done any audio upgrades before so there was a lot of new territory to cover, but it's all so well documented in this forum that I felt confident enough to give it a try.

I was hoping to make a really thorough write up during my install, but it would have taken a lot of time I didn't have at the time. Instead I'll just post a few pictures and people can ask questions if they have any.

So here is the final product:

And here are some process shots:

I'm not sure what the resolution of these photos will be like because I'm using the mobile version. We will see.

I still need to take a nice picture of the finished piece in the trunk. Hopefully I will be able to in a couple of days.

I also upgraded the front speakers, and took a cue from another guy on this forum who fabricated his own adapters. So I measured the speakers and the mounting holes and Lasercut some brackets out of mdf.

These are all the components that went into the system.

Thanks for taking a look!

Nice build! The CNC machined part makes it look so good!

How did you connected the amp? To the front channels?
I'm planning to do a build in my Clubbie and thinking about different ways to do it.
Have you removed the 100Hz cut off in your car?

Hey discovery, thanks for the kind words.

I have everything hooked up to the front channels. It took a while to get the gains set up between the component speakers and the sub, but once I fiddled with them the whole system sounds much better.

I don't think I'm going to worry about the rear channel, I'm just going o leave it as is and probably not replace the 6x9's in the rear. Well maybe one day, but not just yet.

Right now I have the component speakers hooked up to two of my amps 4 channels at 100 watts rms each, and the sub bridged on the other channels at 300 watts rms.

Cheers,

Brian

Thanks for the info!
Did you used the high level from the speakers straight to the amp or used a converter to low level?

I just connected directly to the speaker wires at the x3991 connector using a wiring harness sold by integral audio (well, by a reseller on Amazon associated with integral audio). Was kind of expensive but saved a lot of headache. You can probably find The link by Googling integral audio x3991 amazon.
