Apple Devices compared to Android

I currently am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 as my phone and have found it will not connect to the car via Bluetooth. I am curious if it would be worth it to switch to an Iphone and/or Ipad Mini for Bluetooth connectivity and any apps the are available for Mini on the Apple app store. I currently have the HK speaker upgrade with a standard head unit that has the aux hookup. This is the only way I can play music from my phone to the car. I would love to use the phone features through the steering wheel as well. I also don't know if I am missing anything else by not having an Apple device.

Thanks for any help.

This doesn't sound right. The Note should work just fine, just like my Galaxy S 3 does. At what point in the pairing process do you hit a snag? Walk me through it.

Also, do you have the "connected" system or not?

I have a Note 2 and a 2013 R56s with H/K. No connect feature. Phone pairs fine for phone use only , but won't connect via BT as a music player. For that it has to be connected via the AUX input.

That's correct. The only way to get bluetooth music screening (unless you have a Tune2Air or similar device) is if you have MINI Connected. The standard audio system does not support bluetooth music streaming. It's for phone only.

The process Ive been doing hoping that I have it right is:

On the radio:
  • Choose Menu
  • Choose Phone
On my phone:
  • scan Bluetooth click Mini on the list
On the radio:
  • Choose add
  • Enter Code 1234,1111,0000
  • Choose OK
  • Bluetooth fails to pair on radio
On the phone:
  • Phone then prompts me to enter code
  • enter code on phone hangs on pairing then fails

Hope the above makes sense.

You won't be able to stream music from your droid unless...

You use an adapter like this.

It looks like you are having trouble just pairing the phone even for phone calls.

I'm thinking it's something specific to your phone.
Try a friend's droid to see if so.

The thing to remember here is that you still won't be able to stream music without a bluetooth adapter like above.

At best you will be able to make and receive phone calls once you get your phone issue resolved.

This seems right to me, but I have a note 2 that's connected just fine for phone audio.

I would have a friend or someone try to pair their phone with the mini and see if it works properly. My first thought is that your phone is having some bluetooth issues and the note 3 should still be under the warranty to have it fixed/replaced. If it's not the phone, then it's your car, and maybe that's still under warranty as well....but something seems a little off.
