R56 Mini USB Aux Input replacement DIY?

Hey guys,

Recently my wife complained to me that her aux cable no longer works, so i ordered her a new one. weeks go by and i receive the cable only to find out it didn't work. called seller and he sent me a new one. got this in the mail a few days ago and it still didn't work! so then i did a bit of investigating and realized the pins in the usb plug-in are bent to ****.

needless to say, i have ordered a new usb/aux jack factory input module which fits in the dash to replace the old one.

Can someone lead me to a diy on how to replace this? will i have to remove the dash and all that in order to swap out this tiny little thing?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Im pretty sure you will need to remove a huge part of the dash just to get to the small USB section which I believe is housed on the lower part of the fascia, so the fascia needs to come out to gain access to it. Its not an easy job, is the car under warranty?

Hang on, what pins are bent in the usb?? You got a picture of it by any chance?

I just found a thread where ecs says its plug n play, just pull it out and snap a new one in.

the top 3 are bent to the back. the bottom pin is normal...

Is that without taking the fascia and dash apart?

Do you have a link to the thread please?

I replaced the fascia in my r56 and the usb section was moulded to the fascia.
