Navigation & Audio Retrofit Black 12-13 R56 Radio into 08 MCS
#51
Hi Shrubba,
Thanks for the quick feedback. I should probably start a new thread.
The links were only to show other similar pics of the radios. I wish there was a way of uploading an image directly to the forums vs hosting images on another website.
Anyway, yes I wanted to upgrade the center stack steering wheel controls and airbag to the blacked out look. I don't fee like I spent a whole lot of money since these were out of a salvaged vehicle.
While the new radio has a very similar plug layout it doesn't have the digital audio that my old radio had and along with that probably the input for the MIC. I thought my old radio might have had a digital optical input for H/K equipped radios.
I wonder if any of those 2011 models came equipped with any digital audio inputs on the back? So I can plug and chug. The research continues.

Sat Question
Ok...it is possible. All plug and play. You just need the radio, cd player and bezel from an 11+ R56. My R56 just has the base radio and found a unit that came with the h/k amp (which I didn't use) but the head unit works no problem. The new unit has HD radio working flawlessly. It comes with the USB so all I need is the wire from the USB to the back of the unit for it to be functional I guess. Bluetooth is working flawlessly also. My phone connects no problem but I still need a microphone for me to be able to use it. It also has Sirius enabled but I don't know what else I would need for satellite radio to work. If anyone wants to chime in and help me get the rest of the stuff working, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!!!

Possible, I think the Sat unit in 8/2010+ was built into the head unit as it just needed to be flashed by a dealer with the activation code.

Sat Question
Yes it's integrated as well as blue tooth and USB. The unit I installed was activated like his, but errors out when the ignition is turned on so I was wondering if he'd re-flashed to enable or it just worked.

Yea, that's weird, something in the wiring does not line up?
