Nav night mode

Is there anyway to get the nav system to switch to night mode automatically? Seems like a big unnecessary pain to have to manually switch it or be blinded!

Unfortunately not, from what I've been told by Mini

I like the night mode appearance but it's a pita to switch it on and off so I don't even bother with it

I don't think it can be done, either. Another PIA engineering decision by MINI... I have a $150 Garmin GPS that can automatically change from day to night, but their NAV system costing 5X more can't do it...but of course it can be "MINI Connected".

The factory Nav in my last two MINIs ('11 MCS and my current '13 Roadster) stays in night mode 24x7.

My wife and I both prefer the crispness, unobtrusiveness, and simplicity of the dark map background under both day and night lighting conditions. The Nav moving map display is almost always my default display of choice. Even if there was an automatic day/night mode switch, I'd find a way to disable it.
