Auxillary input adapter and jack installation

I thought I would post what I found about installing the auxillay input jack in my early (July 2002) MCS and a pic of the installation.

First, the adapter was NOT compatible with my stock stereo which was manufactured in Japan in May 2002. I did not have the CD changer option and the stereo was not mp3 compatible. After installing the adapter, the AUX mode would not display and there was no audio after connection my android phone.

Fortunately, I found a later stereo (2005) and a lot of great advice from "4GAZM" from this forum. (Thanks Chris). This was from a 2005 Cooper.

I installed the adapter without a hitch. I selected AUX, connected my phone, and was graced with my favorite album on Pandora!

I decided to install the input jack in the vacant spot in my toggle switch panel. I have attached a pic of the final installation. After getting over the angst of drilling a hole in the face of the panel, it was a pretty intuitive. I like the location much better than the glove box.

Nice,

Like you locations , the two other locations which are popular are under the toggle near the back panel and in the glove box ( which the kit comes with instructions for ). When you install in the toggle , you just have to have the "Rear" factory fog light blank or any other one, if you have a full toggle bank , then you have to find another location.

Nice job. I have mine under the toggle panel like the one shown in the stock photo. Thought about going the same route as you, but I usually botch such jobs and figured it would be easier to hide it underneath!

Where did you get the kit and how
Much? Will it work on my 06 jcw with h/k? It has, well had a 6disc in the trunk but I took it out cuz really does anyone even own CDs anymore? So I'm thinking where ever the factory cd changer plugs in should be where I'd plug the aux jack into. I think? Thanks

Yes, the aux-in will plug into your '06 head unit. It's a bit more complicated if you have Nav. It doesn't occupy the same space as the CD changer, as I have both.
You can get the kit from the dealer or many of the NAM vendors.
