Navigation & Audio iphone 5 Snap In Adaptor Part Number
i am trying to get the new iphone 5 cradel but meanwhile i just use my lightning cable and an auxiliary cord from my headphones and it works fine using the usb-media, it shows the song you're playing and charges your phone while you're listening to music
I tried using the lightning adapter with my IPhone 5 with the CD/Media input instead of the mini connected. I was able to see the list of music on the screen and even got it to play but without any sound. I am not sure what I have forgot to do about getting sound. I am investigating the suggestion about activating my IPhone 4 unlocked but haven't done that yet. Thanks for all the suggestions.
The cradle doesnot work. Mini USA say it will be re released in early 2014
I have a 2013 Paceman S with Nav and the Mini connected package. I have a $200 rebate coupon from Costco (I bought the car via the Costco Auto program - and they provide the coupon good at my dealer for parts or service). I also have a iPhone S due to arrive on Friday. So, I have been tracking this discussion and have been considering getting the arm rest iPhone 5/5s adapter.
I don't understand why it has been so difficult to get a functioning adapter. The only difference I can see is the new part will use the Lightning connector now used on the 5 and 5s (and 5c). The only advantages I have been able to discern for the arm rest adapter is: (1) protects the phone; (2) powers the phone; and (3) uses the car antenna for better reception. Those might be of value. What other differences (advantages) exist for this adapter as compared to just connecting the phone using the cable that Mini included with the car (along with a 30-pin to Lightning converter)? You can buy the 30 pin/Lightning converters on Amazon or even eBay now (I got mine from Apple to make sure it is quality). That should have been easy for BMW/Mini to handle. One poster indicated that he tried the adapter and the communication test passed - before his dealer bricked his radio with a software update. Other posters have noted that iOS 7 seems to work OK.
So, can someone enlighten me on what I would be giving up if I just used the cable and adapter for the phone? There must be something I am missing. I do like the idea of having the phone safely stored and not "hanging" around the center console but given the cost and the apparent impossibility of getting a functioning part, I don't know....

If I am mistaken, let me know, but those are the problems that I am having with 2011 CM All4s with Navigation, mini-connected, etc.
Mcolligan, my vehicle is a 2013 countryman S with Navigation and Connected. My iphone 5 runs iOS 7; Latest mini connect application installed. The latest software/firmware update from BMW has been downloaded and installed into vehicle with USB stick.
With this phone in cradle, and mini connect now displayed on vehicle screen, I have access to most mini apps.;( "send to car" is great and it is nice to be able to see engine temperature) I do not use ANY video or music (they appear not to work for all mini owners with iphone 5). When I have Bluetooth connection all "Office" functions work, ie : all contacts transfer, phone functions work, e-mail works, calendar functions work. The phone is in the armrest cradle; charging and out of sight. Part number 84 21 2 351 308 is in fact a BMW accessory part number, but fits the Countryman arm rest perfectly. Comes in a BMW Original Accessories Box. This is the case with many BMW/Mini accessories/parts, since the are under the same corporate umbrella. Making the system work 100% is problem known by BMW, and may be resolved next year. If you do not want music/video; all of the Business/Phone functions should work and improve your productivity, if you can justify the high price. Your style may be to just buy the Apple 36 inch lightning to USB cord, put phone on the passenger seat, with Bluetooth connected, and get same results.

Does the "plugin" function work in your configuration? Is there any reason a 2011 Cm would be different than a 2013 CM both with NAV and Mini-Connected?
Thanks for your response!
Plugin will not work with iPhone 5 regardless of your cars' configuration. The armrest adapter the previous poster mentioned will not transmit any audio whatsoever. In other words, if you want to use your iphone 5 as an iPod for music, don't buy the armrest adapter. It doesn't work. All other functions (except plugin) work with the adapter , audio does not. According to mini USA, they hope to have that issue resolved by "early 2014".
Pfarinelli, Well said! Mcolligon may improve or add other functions with a software/firmware upgrade. Then the 2011 will be as 2013. His plugin functions ,however will not work. End of story.....
How about a BT adapter? Does the Tune2Air work? It is $89, but looks like it will integrate with the current system. It would save you from having to plug in everytime you get in the car.

T2A-1001 is an optional accessory for WMA1000 which allows you to connect WMA1000 with AUX-USB iPod interface found in some cars such as BMW. The cable set also contains a Y-cable which also allows you to wirelessly transmit music from your phone to home Hi-Fi system. You can purchase T2A-1001 from our distributor or directly from our shopping cart link here.
For BMW vehicles with USB/AUX-IN port and original BMW Y cable,
correct choice will be WMA1000 + ViseeO Y cable (ACE-USB-BW).
This ViseeO Y cable follows MFI protocol to make sure WMA1000 is well compatible with this kind of iPod integration.

I've been told by a UK dealer that the correct cradle should be ready in about four weeks, that the cradle is ready and that Mini are waiting for Apple to sign off some of the software that is used with the app. This is the second dealer who has said it should be here by mid-March. Here's hoping.

I'm reading these and laughing out loud.
After 3 years, I'm turning my MINI in in about 3 months and will no longer have to worry about when the cradle for the iPhone 4/4S will be available. I have no idea what the current status is - - - I quit listening to promises a long time ago.

If this cradle even exists (which I doubt it does) going by Apple's history a new iPhone with a different shape will be shipping in 8 months... Why even bother with this stupid piece of vaporware at this point?
Never mind that this is somebody who's one and only post is regarding a supposed ship date and an item where there's been almost as many rumors about and an iPhone...

Not only that but a year to two years ago, I probably would have been mildly interested in this news - but with the iPhone 5 now two years old, and the next iPhone probably going to be released 8 months from now, MINI has missed the boat with this part if they even plan on releasing it at all.
