How to re-install HK amp
As some of you may know, I had an aftermarket amp installed in my 2010 Mini. The HK amp was removed during the process, though I had warned the installer this could be problematic. The installer was not aware of the issues, went ahead and removed the amp, rather than leave it hooked up to the car without speaker connection.
The result of the missing HK amp was miscommunication between modules and fault codes, as discovered on a trip to the dealer for some service work.
As has been advised on this forum, I asked the installer to reinistall the amp so the car could see it, but to leave in the aftermarket amp.
Here's my question to anyone that might be familiar with installation of this amp: Are the two CAMBUS wires the only wires that need to be connected to the amp for my purposes?
The installer put the HK amp in the passenger side opening at the boot, and he extended the CAMBUS wires (two of them) to reach the amp and plugged the plug in the amp. Is this all that needed to be done?
I'm thinking about this today and realized the amp may not have power, and therefore I'm concerned it will not be seen by the car now, even with the CAMBUS wires hooked up.
Because this reinstall cost me money, I'm concerned I might have thrown my money away on this excercise. To have the car checked at the dealer is $150, so I'm torn on how to proceed in order to find out if this re-installation is working.
