2011 MC w/HK - adding amp & Sub
Hi all. New to the site and I just got a 2011 MC with HK stereo. The first thing I want to do is add my amp & sub. I did a good deal of searching the threads and can't seem to find a definitive answer as to the best way to approach this. Ultimately, I'll run a signal through a LOC to my amp, etc. Where is the best place to pick up the signal though; from what I've read, I understand there are issues pre-amp and post-amp. If it helps, the equipment I'll be using is: AUDIO CONTROL LC2i LOC, Alpine MRP-M450 Mono Amp, Alpine SWR-843D 8" Type-R. I have the pin configuration for the wiring harness into the amp, so I'd like to hear where you guys are picking up a signal. Also, are you using any bass blockers for the other speakers?? Sounds like an application where they could help so you don't have to limit low frequencies from the HU?!?! Any help is much appreciated!!!!
With the HiFi or HK systems you can pull the signal from either the front or rear HU output (i.e. BEFORE the amp). For the standard 6 speaker systems you can ONLY use the front. Take a look at the MINI Audio Basics sticky at the top of this sub-forum for more info.

Thanks for the reply! I was under the impression that for 2011 the HK amp only received 2 line level signal channels from the HU that are processed in the amp via a "data line" (ie - balance/fade, bass/treble, volume etc.). If I'm not mistaken, Pins #9 and 17 are "right" input and #30 and 38 are "left" input on the amp connector?
Right on! Thanks for the clarification and for responding so quickly! So I can either pull signal from the pre-amp side at the amplifier or from the x9331 connector, if I've read properly?
