Straight swap..front speakers?

I am getting my kenwood Ksc-sw10 sub/amp installed today behind passenger seat. I have an 09 mini cooper s R57 U.K spec. I believe it has the standard 10 speaker radio CD boost. I really not looking to throw a lot of cash at a stereo upgrade.
My plan is to have the sub/amp feed from the front speakers.
I will then fade the stereo to the front to take most of the load from the very poor rear speakers.
I am looking to replace the 4 front door speakers with a better brand keeping the head unit as it is.
Can some one guide me to a set of speakers that will do the job?
would I have to use seperates with cross overs? How are the frequencies controlled to the front speakers on the factory set up?
200/300w speakers would be overkill so I presume i need 100w approx speakers max?
