iPod touch vs iPhone and MINI Connected

I am about to own a 2013 Mini S Hardtop with MINI Connected. I have an Android, but at the dealership, I was happy to see I could stream Pandora through Bluetooth so I added Connected (w/ Nav) to the options package.

Here's my question: while iPhone is not in the near future for me, can I still get the same functionality with the iPod Touch (I believe others call this the iTouch)? In particular, could I install the MINI Connected apps on the iTouch/iPod? If I streamed through the iPod, would the artwork show up on the Connected screen? Essentially, I am asking if the iPod/iTouch could be a functional equivalent of the iPhone with respect to MINI Connected.

Sort of...

I currently use an ipod touch with my '12 MCS. All the functions work stand alone except for ones that require network connectivity (rss feeds, pandora , etc...) To get those network dependent apps to work I've set up my android phone as a wifi hotspot and connect to that from my ipod. Works like a charm and no additional data plan necessary

That's awesome - thanks! Is it possible to run apps like foursquare, etc from the iPod - which means somehow installing the apps on the iPod? I always thought the iPod was just an MP3 player, but perhaps it has that functionality...

As long as its one of the newer model iPod's with the latest iOS I don't see why you wouldn't be able to install the apps

If you have an iPod Touch (iTouch) then what you have is an iPhone with out the phone functions. All the other functions are basically the same as and iPhone you just have to use WiFi to connect to the internet to download the apps.
