Best Audio Solution

Hi Everyone

Quick question (i hope), I don't check in all that often and it may have already been answered, in any case here it is again.
I have a 2007 cooper S with an iPod connection in the glove compartment, no USB in, or as far as I can tell an AUX in.
I would like to change phones to possibly the Galaxy S3 (at any rate the new iPhone5 is tipped to have a different connector) so I need a new way to get my music to the speakers. What is the best option? One of those fm transmitters? Any ideas would be super, hopefully something nice.
Thanks in advance.

Chris

AUX would probably be the best solution.

AUX is below the center stack toggles in the little cubbie hole there. But some very early 07's did not have them.

Those FM transmitters IMHO are horrible. But if you dont have a AUX connection that my be your only solution unless you take the whole dash apart to get to where the iPod connector plugs into the back of the radio to install an AUX port.

The biggest problem you are going to have is that now all the control of music will have to be on the Galaxy S3 as the steering wheel controls (if you have them) and the radio controls will have no way of changing track etc.

With no AUX it does limit your options. I didn't have good luck with FM transmitters either.

I use a Belkin bluetooth connector that does need the AUX port, it works pretty well, along with a cd-slot mount that puts my 'droid (Motorola Razr Maxx) at a usuable level. One push on the remote mic to connect, can stream any audio source from the phone (Sirius, Pandora, GPS instructions, music player, etc.). Mutes the audio for phone calls. Has a USB power connector also.

The airwaves are too cramped for transmitters to work well sadly.

So I checked again, (after one of these checks I'm hoping a AUX or USB in will magically appear) sadly nothing still. The iPod in is the only option now.
SO I either take the head unit apart to get the the back (if I do that I may as well fit my sub / amp that's sitting int he garage), or what might be the easiest is to buy an old iPod and leave it in the car. Then I have my controls as well! And bluetooth the new phone.

If i was to use the iPod in the glove compartment then getting one with that will charge will be useful. The newer ones say "this accessory is not compatible..." works but doesn't charge. Are there types that are better than other types? ie the old classic vs the new touch?

Thanks for the answers guys, I think that your right about the FM transmitter too.

Thanks for mentioning the cd slot mount, I didn't know about those... brilliant idea! Ordering from Amazon!

I have been thinking some more, an iPod is the best that I can leave in the car, means my wheel controls are working too. Issue is that is doesn't charge, but I found this
Scosche passPORT Charging Adapter for iPod & iPhone (Black)
which will let the ipod charge now. So I'll try that with my iPhone, if that charges then it might be the best solution to get a new ipod for the mini, put all my music on it and it never leaves the car (except for more music).
AUX would be great, but I don't have one...
