AUX not being recognized-- 2005 MCS

I received my 2nd Auxiliary Audio Input Interface Kit For Ipod / MP3 Player - Glove Box To Vehicle Audio Head. I had the same issue with the first kit so they sent me a new one, but now I see it was not the kit. This is what happened:

I installed it and it worked, for about a half hour. Then I started over and it worked fine as long as I didn't screw the radio back into place. Then it stopped again and now it won't even recognize AUX as a mode. Does anyone know what it could be? I looked online and someone said the fuse that controls the cigarette lighter might be the issue, I can pull this fuse but I have never gotten the kit to work continuously so I don't know that the fuse is the problem. At this point my navigation has no sound coming through the speakers (it is on the same connector as the Aux). I found a forum on here showing how to install the AUX when you have Navigation because Atlantic British's instructions don't show how to do this.

I really don't want to pay the dealer $600 to do this installation...any help you can provide is much appreciated! Even if you can recommend a shop in the NYC area that can fix this for me.

I've had the issue. First it happened if I tried to charge my phone or had my sat radio plugged in the lighter while it was in use. Bought a ground loop isolator and it went away. Then it came back with the ground loop isolator.

I finally decided to plug the lighter back in and I have absolutely no idea why, but everything went back to normal. For some reason, I cannot leave the lighter empty.

I have never had my phone (which I use to play music) charging while I had it plugged into the AUX. I have had the charger just plugged in not charging anything though...would that still do it? Someone suggested unplugging my car battery for an hour and then trying again.

Finally gave in and went to the dealer...there is a defect in the radio and they said it needs to be replaced.
