Navigation & Audio 06 MCS H/K displays "DISABLE"
06 MCS H/K displays "DISABLE"
This has probably been answered before somewhere but after searching for a couple of hours i just cant seem to find the same problem.
I bought my MCS used about a year ago and the H/K system was not working, at the time no sound. A quick search told me the best solution was the amp had gone bad. No problem I thought. The HU was working just fine.
After installing some basic mods and having the battery disconnected for a few hours i found that after re-connection of the battery the HU now Displays "disable"
Does anyone know what may have happened to the system? All plugsd, pins etc are connected.
Is there any way to manually reset other than the ECU or battery pull?

The radio displays that when it doesn't detect a connection to the car's CAN data bus. It is a radio security mechanism to verify that it is installed on a MINI. Did any of your mods involve electrical work that could have affected the CAN bus?
I had this on the wife's mini. There are tons of things that can cause this. In the end, it was the mini CD changer that I added to her car. Apparently since it was never coded to the car, the radio thought it was stolen and put in another car.
The mini tech never checked for the CD changer since it wasn't listed on the build he picked up on his computer.
I can't say if the changer was faulty, or it was just not expected, but unplugging the changer made everything work again. Changing the battery is what caused the issue in the first place.
Your issue is different, but this isn't an easy thing to diagnose, even for my buddy who is a mini tech. Even the airbags can cause the disable according to what I found out.

None of the mods involved electrical components, other than having to disconnect the ecu for the CAI. I checked all the pins to make sure none were bent or broken after the problem stated.
