Fried my XM Roady Receiver?
I installed my XM Roady Receiver today by adding a power socket with an Add-a Circuit. As I test installed it, I had not routed the ground yet, and I was surprised that the radio worked. How could it work without a ground, I thought? So I installed it without the ground, thinking don't fix something that isn't broken. After about an hour, it shut down. I added the ground, but still no go. Even after calling Sirius, it doesn't pick up a signal. While there is a display, it doesn't respond to commands.
So I don't do this in the future, how did the radio work without a ground, and am I correct in thinking that's what fried it?
And, yes, I restarted the car, checked the fuse, made sure the socket is live.
Thanks!

as for the grounding issue you must have connected part of the case to something metal in the car and that would ground it but really not properly.
It could be fired if not grounded properly. but that is hard to say if the display is working.
You may want to disconnect it form power for a few hours and then connect it again with a proper ground. Some electronics take time to reset themselves after a problem like yours. but it may never reset either.

Thanks for your reply. The Roady XT not working, even after being disconnected for a while. The only thing I can think of is perhaps the antenna from the tuner itself served as a ground for the power socket. There was only a wire coming to the socket from the power, and the ground wire wasn't connected to anything. It IS possible that I hooked the ground wire to the power in reverse, though.
Thanks,
Larry
