Is there a "cheaper" way to update maps??

I have the original nav maps from my 2005 R50 and am looking to upgrade the maps.

Just wanted to know what my options were to updating the maps?

Do i really need to buy the new version of the dvd?

DVD or buy a $100 tom tom, garmin, etc.
