New head unit, no PDC.

Hello there,

I installed some new speakers in my car along with a 5ch amp, and a subwoofer, but the stock HU was sounding like crap so I decided to switch to an aftermarket head unit.

So I recently installed a Pioneer DEH-5250SD in the secret compartment.

I used an unknown brand signal processor and plugged it in the aux output of the new HU. (The original head unit is plugged to Pioneer's AUX input)

But the sound quality is really crappy comparing it with the new HU's other inputs. What I mean by that is, my original stereo sounds really bad on pioneer while the USB or the cd input are sounding excellent.

If I get a better processor, will the sound quality improve? I am asking this because I want to use the OEM head unit. I don't want to switch to AUX input every time I want to park my car.

If I don't get a new processor and decide to stick with the pioneer, what should I do to get the PDC to work again?

I searched many topics on the forum but couldn't find anything that might help me.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Kaan

Not sure why you would do this but it does not make any sense as to get the PDC sound you MUST change to AUX input to hear it.

again it is not a function of the processor to make the sound for the PDC nor to function as a switcher ot make the PDC sound come from you Pioneer head unit.

Very Simple.

1. Disconnect the oem head unit from the pioneer

2. Connect a small speaker to the output of the oem head unit and set it for CD or AUX input and leave it there.

3. Use the Pioneer as the main stereo in the car.

4. you PDC sounds will come thru the small speaker that you have attached to the oem head unit.

Couldn't he just leave the OEM HU connected to the rear speakers and use the Pioneer for the front only? Then he won't even have to turn his OEM HU on at all, right? I haven't tried reversing with the radio off but I can't imagine you'd have to turn the HU on to have the PDC work.

I dont have PDC in my car and did not even think that - "Yes it must work with the radio off" so if the OP just hooks up the rear speakers or a small speaker to the rear outputs of the head unit that would work.

But as the OP is using a 5 channel amp I suspect he has the rear speakers hooked up to the Aftermarket Head unit so adding a small speaker to the rear outputs would do the job.

Yeah, I see 5-channel amp and assume front bi-amping with a sub. :D

I really just wanted to confirm that the radio didn't need to be on for the PDC to work. I'll try when I leave work in a little bit and report back.
