I am thinking of surprising my wife with a portable navigation unit...probably a Garmin. However I am totally overwhelmed with the number of different models.
As her 2011 MCS has Mini Connect I am assuming that the blue tooth function in some Garmin models is redundant.
A large screen and voice activation (if it works well) are probably priorities. More concerned with basic functionality than little used esoteric features. Therefore latest model is not necessary unless the have really useful new functions.
So I was hoping that some experienced users would be able to point me in the right direction in terms of getting the most suitable unit on the market at the moment. Thanks.

 

Don't take this how it's going to read, but head down to your local Best Buy and play with some of the units. Don't get zeroed into a brand before you go look at them either. Garmin is great but so is TomTom and if you can find a Navigon they're amazing. If you want something simple to operate, I like TomTom units.

But the only way to really know what you like is to use a few.
