Are people still having problems with Sirius presets following lineup change?
We have a 2009 R56 with factory Sirius and navigation. After the Sirius lineup change in ~May 2011, it's not possible to tune or save satellite presets.
I've called Sirius on several occasions to complain about this, have spent hours (cumulatively) on hold, and have had them tell me they were sending various reset signals while I held the door open, started and stopped the car (patted my head while sticking out my tongue and rubbing the dog's tummy, etc.) So far nothing has worked, but I imagine that there's some reset procedure that actually clears the memory on the satellite receiver.
Anyway, the car is coming out of warranty, and this is one of the issues I asked the dealer to fix. They're telling me it's Sirius' problem and that there is no fix. My position is that they warrantied the damned thing, and I don't care *who* broke it, if it doesn't work the way the manual says it does, they need to take care of it.
I asked if the problem would continue if they swapped whatever module those presets are saved in--I'm not sure if that's the satellite radio box, the navigation display, or some other box. They said yes, and that new cars have the same problem.
I'm having a little difficulty believing that Mini is selling new cars that can't save/tune satellite radio presets, and will ask to see one when I pick ours up.
I've read the thread at https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...el-update.html, but I wondered if many people are still having trouble with this.
Thanks,
Heath

Since I posted, I've called Mini USA's customer service call center, and was told that it's a Sirius problem, not a problem with my car or radio, and that "there's nothing [my] Mini dealer can do." I don't care who (meaning Mini or Sirius) caused it to break, but I think it's almost certainly not true that Mini "can't" fix the problem.
The contempt for customers this answer demonstrates makes me fume, but I'm not sure there's much I can do about it except tell any potential buyer about my experiences.
I don't blame you to have MINI fix it, but sometimes it is such a hassle I would just give the reset procedure a whirl so that you're not wasting anymore of your valuable time. Let us know how it goes! =)
My 2010 had this issue. On its last visit to the dealer (about 2 months ago), the advisor had me bring both keys (I have comfort access, but not sure that matters) and they ran some sort of procedure that has cured the issue. It's apparently a simple fix, although he did tell me that they have had a couple of cars where they had to do this 2 or 3 times. Hope your dealer can help you out.
They did keep the car overnight to ensure that the procedure worked. Afterward, all of my presets were set to the default channel and I had to reassign them all. Not a big deal.
