Dysfunctional Radio - HELP

Okay folks this is going to sound crazy, but I need radio HELP! I've got a 2003 Mini that was just in the body shop for massive hail damage. I finally got my baby back and the shop had to disconnect the battery at some point (not exactly sure why) and I've lost all the programming on my radio. However, when I try to play my Mini factory installed radio now, it will ONLY find news radio stations! I can't get any music. Is this some sort of setting in the radio or have I just lost it? Thanks for your help!

Yes it's on FM

The silly thing only picks up 3 radio stations - 2 English news stations and 1 Spanish news station. I just don't understand. The only thing that's different is it has a new antenna.

There may be a problem with the new antenna, so that the radio is only picking up the strongest stations.

Is the new antenna one of the aftermarket aluminum "stubby" ones? My FM reception goes to hell with a stubby antenna installed.

If you still have the old antenna (or can borrow one), re-install it and see if your reception comes back.

I was just about to order a stubby and was wondering about FM reception... Did a search here and all I get are opinions about Sat or GPS...

So are the stubbies really inferior to the stock antennae??? Any brands better than another?? I love my FM...!
