Iphone4 + Parrot ck3000 + MFSW = Nirvana
First off,
My thanks to all the prior posters that asked and answered questions from Noobs such as myself regarding how to enable the MFSW in our cars after the fact.
There are many many posts on this subject and I am not going to recreate the wheel. While I found these to be helpful I also found many of them to be a bit old and not updated recently.
Specifically my goal was to enable the mfsw to answer, hangup, and voicedial numbers. My hope was that voicedial would be using the iphone4 app and not have to be done from the voicetag functions that are recordable in the parrot device.
So, here is what I found out:
Visit Mikey over at newministuff.com. He has everything you need to get the job done. Because of the exchange rates between the US and UK, I opted to only purchase the mfsw enabling interface from newministuff.com and got the parrot device from Amazon.com here.
Install is pretty easy even though the documentation from Parrot is subpar. (insert downtubes)
1. Remove the downtube screws (2005 model R50 shown)
2. Pull down on tubes and move out of way enough to get to 4 screws on head unit.
3. Remove screws and pullout HU.
4(rear of HU). Remove the lower left white plug for cd changer prewire and lower right plug for aux input.
5. Remove wire harness plug.
6. Plug wire harness from MINI to new wire harness and then plug new harness to radio. Re-insert cd changer and aux plug into rear of HU.
7. Plug other leads from newministuff harness to the parrot ck3000 device. Just match the plugs to the interfaces.
8. Relax, there will be 2 wire kits that come from parrot that you will not need.
9. Plug mic and parrot control button into blue unit.
10. You are done. If all is correct, your phone will pair up to your car when you turn the ignition key. If so, you will hear the car stereo click twice and the radio will display "phone".
To use the unit, press the phone button. On a iphone, this will enable the voicedial command. As a bonus if you plug your phone into the aux jack then the voice command will control your ipod as well.
I ended up tucking all the wiring up under the bolster below the steering wheel.
Good luck.

Very nice, isn't Mikeythemini the bomb? He helped me out with my Klat7 handsfree install a couple months ago, posted here in the forums. Handsfree and Bluetooth streaming of audio is the way to go.
Glad to hear that this works so well with the iPhone 4. Very tempted to do this myself.
Which kit from newministuff did you use? How much was it, shipped to the US?
Is sound quality pretty decent for the person on the other line?
Thanks!

it depends
The cost of the cable harness is not that bad, but the current exchange rate is what will get you. I think mine shipped to the US was about close to double the UK price. The exchange rate changes daily
If time is a important factor then this is the way to go. No reading wiring diagrams, no cutting wires, no splices. Just plug and go.
