I tried to operate the voice command for the first time today in my Mini and have failed to understand how this works. I have a GarminFone with T-Mobile, have it linked to the bluetooth and have used it many times, which is probably my favorite feature in the car.

Anyway, following the instructions in the owners manual I can not get it to function. My phone book has been downloaded for all the names/numbers are there but the system gives me feedback that they are not there when I try to verbally dial a number.

Am I missing something? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

If you have a car without the built-in factory Nav, you'll need to record voice tags for the phone numbers you want to voice dial.

As nicknbecka said but as well as that if you do have Factory NAV it is not guaranteed to work. It all depends on the bluetooh functionality that the phone manufacturer has implemented. But as it does support HFP (Hand Free Profile) there is a better than 90% possibility that it would work.
