I did not disturb the dynamic stability control (DSC) unit. On the R57 convertible the DSC it is mounted next to the Sat radio location (just to the driver's side). The DSC does not interfere with the location of the Sat radio box. I assume the DSC unit is mounted in the same spot on an R56.

I should have said in my original post that my car did not have factory Sat radio. I removed the styrofoam filler under the passenger seat carpet and I used part numbers 4, 5, 7 and 8 on this diagram:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...67&hg=65&fg=05

I had to extensively modify the Sat box for the PDX-5 to fit:

By the way, I used a JL cleansweep that I mounted under the driver's seat:

I was not able to get the cleansweep to calibrate the rear channels (due to the well known bass roll off) so I made sure the Sub was driven by the front channels.

Peter, there is a similar space under carpet below the drivers seat. However, that is the location for the Bluetooth module if you have that feature.

The space under the driver's seat looks the same dimensions (26X40 cm). The blutooth module is 12X24 cm, so there is some space... Maybe for a really small amp?

I have a 2010 base Mini with the stock boost stereo and I am looking to install an Alpine Amp model MRP-F300. If anyone has used this Amp I would appreciate and be grateful for any feedback regarding where they located their Amp. Under the passenger seat ? BTW, Does this require any mods ? Behind the back seat etc ? I've heard that might be easier ? Recently I, upgraded the door speakers to the Polk MM 6501 (love them, but they require a tad more power and I hope to upgrade the rears to the Polk 6 x 9 MM 691's. Last, can anyone recommend a good place to buy an amp kit and other necessary accessory items at a reasonable price (please let me know what I need if possible I don't wanna buy this stuff at Best Buy, Fry's etc.. Brand/generic names for a 4 channel set up etc would be much appreciated. I cannot not get over how much the wires, power block etc. Of course, the less aluminum in the wires the less resistance, but I'm not springing for Monster cables b/c they are a waste of money for the system I'm building. Thanks in advance to all. Cheers. Peter

Last, has anyone experienced charging problems with this amp ? Last thing I want to have to do is upgrade the alternator b/c of inadequate battery charging. I think I'm okay, but I would be interested if others have had battery issues. I'm also pretty certain I do not need caps, but if someone thinks I do please let me know why. Thanks again for everyone's assistance, I am grateful. Peter

Amp Location Question

Maybe I am missing something, but if the battery needs to be disconnected so that when you take out the passenger seat to access the underseat area where an amp is installed, the airbag warning light doesn't go off - how do you tune/adjust the amp? Wouldn't you need to have the seat installed, the car running and the stereo powered on to adjust and tune the system? My amp is a Kenwood KAC-8405. Adjustments are on the side - seems like I'd need to leave slack in the wires and pull it our from under the seat to make adjustments? I can't imagine the seat travels enough to take off the metal cover and have easy access to the amp.

How do you folks deal with this? Just want to know what others do before I install the amp in a location where tuning and adjusting it will be a PITA.

Thanks.

After amp install, you just plug in the seat and put ti as far as possible towards the dash (dont screw it). Then tune the amp, close it with the plastic cover, install the seat.

Thanks perro and schatzy for pointing out the obvious to me.

The 900/5HD and 600/4HD will. I have my 600/4 under the pass seat and the 900/5 under the driver's seat.

If I had to do it again, I'de use JL's XD amps simply because their controls are on top making them FAR easier to adjust.

I suppose I should clarify this. I have Justa Clubman with Bluetooth. I understand the Bluetooth is under the drivers seat. someone mentioned that they have a convertible and the DSComputer is not under the passenger seat. Does that mean it is there for all other models and will foil my attempt at putting an amp under the passenger side?
