iPod adapter interfering with electronic system
I am on my 3rd iSimple iPod adapter. (ISBM72). The 1st unit worked except for track skipping on the MFSW and radio. The 2nd disabled my radio completely until I disconnected the cables; then it went back to normal. The 3rd is like the 1st in that the track skipping doesn't work (volume control does) and the sound is cut for about a second every minute or so (music continues).
I will be returning the unit for a refund and have given up on this particular brand. My question concerns how these adapters, when plugged into the CD changer cables in the trunk, can potentially affect the car's electronic system.
I noticed no changes after testing the 1st unit. After removing the 2nd unit and reconnecting the battery, I noticed that the airbag warning light had come on. It has been on steadily since it started, in Feb. I still have the 3rd unit plugged in, and the display that shows the clock and miles driven now remains on the initial display showing dashes on the left and number of miles until next service on the right. I hope that when I disconnect the adapter that it will go back to normal.
Has anyone else had these issues? Assuming the clock/miles display goes back to normal after I disconnect, should I bother trying another brand? Could the problem be with the CD changer cables in my car? I need to take the car to the dealer to see about the airbag warning light and probably should ask, but I'm concerned about voiding my warranty which is valid until Dec. Thanks for any suggestions.
