Options question...

Can anyone describe specifically what I get with each of the following two options?

1. Comfort Bluetooth w/USB/iPod Adapter

2. Smartphone Prep with Comfort USB

Why do I need both?

Thanks,

1. You get bluetooth for hands free conversations on your phone, You get a USB port that allows use of USB Stick drives to play music on the stereo, iPod adapter is used to display your iPod info on the display in the car and control the iPod fro the car controls.

2. Must have above to use this feature. what it does is add the ability of having your Smart Phone (blackberry, iPhone etc) in the arm rest and connected to the USB port for music functions.

The problem with #2 is you get the arm rest with it. I don't like the armrest, it just gets in the way. #1 works great for me.

If you get option #1 listed above without option #2, where is the USB port located?

I believe it's in the secret compartment, but don't quote me on that.

No it is not in the secret compartment it is in the cubby hole at the bottom of the center stack just forward of the cup holders.

In the first pic you can see the MINI "Y cable" pluged into the USB and AUX ports just in front of the shift ****. Second pic show a closeup of the connectors.

Did that cable come with the car? I've been looking for something like that.

Thanks schatzy62 that was/is very helpful.

So one more, if you do get both options do the USB/AUX connectors you show here still exist or are they moved to the armrest and only exist in the armrest?

Thanks,

Yes you get both.

BUT! With the smartphone option, you still have to order a specific cradle for your phone to fit in the armrest. ($118 with my BMW CCA discount. yes I have a BMW too)

Also, when you have the Y cable plugged in, it take precedence over the armrest connection.

So when I put the Sirius Sportster in the AUX in, it renders the Ipod/Iphone in the armrest mute. It still works as a phone via Bluetooth, but you have to unplug the AUX jack for the Ipod to work.

So, if you want to have SAT, and Ipod, you need the factory SAT tuner... Or you are plugging and unplugging wires.

You guys are awesome, I appreciate it.

This is exactly what I was hoping for, although now that the options for the 2011 have been announced, I do wonder what cool new features I'm not getting with the "Connect" option or whatever it's called in the 2011.

From my best guess, I'm going to miss out on the internet audio streaming, the larger display of information from the internet on things like new messages, read back of a text, etc. Anyway, the new features sound fun/interesting.
