Anyone with factory GPS installed a Roady? Any satellite acquisition problems? I don't have the factory nav system but I do use a Garmin Streetpilot III. It used to work like a charm sitting on the top of the dash with just the standard Garmin attenna. But, as soon as I turn on the Roady the signal drops by at least 50% and sometimes I loose the satellites all together. Turn off the Roady and all is well again. :???:

XM satellite radio receiver made by Delphi. Supposedly new and improved version of their SkyFi unit. But nobody with a SkyFi ever complained of it jamming their GPS nav system. Maybe these are the GPS jammers Russia supposely sold to Iraq before the last Gulf war.

Placing two satellite antennas in close proximity of one another can cause sensitivity degradation, even if they operate at different frequencies. Those with factory Nav dont have to worry about a dash-mounted XM or Sirius antenna, but those who have a dash-mounted Garmin or similar self-contained unit would probably do best to mount the antenna for the radio either at the windshield corner or in the back.

This is a common problem with satellite receiving setups as well as just about any recivers of similar types operating close together. Part of their normal operation is the fact that most receivers emit radio frequency energy. Satellite receivers in particular are susceptible to problems with near-field RF interference because they have a very small signal that they have to receive. Think of trying to listen to someone in a crowded room and someone comes up next to you and starts talking as part of a wholly different conversation; it's a similar problem with radio receivers.

No issues with my Sirius Shuttle receiver and my factory Nav. I've got the antenna for the Shuttle mounted on my dash.

DCMetroMINIs has a member (although I can't remember who) who has XM with factory Nav, the antenna's were mounted next to each other on the roof of the car. I don't believe he mentioned any issues.

I put my antenna on the dash becuase I was too lazy to run it back to the boot and onto the roof....
