I'd like to have it just for the gee-whiz factor and for when my nephews are in the car. I cant imagine using it on a daily basis.

As long as you Iphone has IOS 5.0 or higher the mission control and dynamic music should be listed. If you do not have higher than 5.0 then the only way to use it is a snap in adaptor.

Yeah the Mission Control unit is monitoring the CAN bus for data coming from presumably the DSC, DME, SZL and other modules. And that 9/2009 build date requirement does/could mean that those modules will not put that data out on the data bus if you have an older build date.
