6 cd changer install help?

hello, i have 2006 mini cooper s, with the hc radio, it has in dash single cd player, also it has a ipod hookup, i purchased a 6 cd changer, i install the changer it shuffles the discs around then stops. (so it has power)
the head unit indicates no magizine, so i pulled head unit out unplugged the ipod interface, plugged in what i thought was the cd changer plug, it was taped to the harness, what else do i need to do? or is it a bad cd changer? thanks

If you want to keep both......the interface gets plugged in the boot...next to the CD changer. There is a long cable you can run, from the trunk, to the front to do a "normal install". I think most people just remove the CD changer, put their songs on a MP3 format, and plug the adapter into the head unit unplugging the cable to the CD changer.
So to answer your question...the CD changer harness is most likely unplugged in the back of the radio/head unit, allowing the prior installer to do a much faster job since there was no CD changer to worry about!! That is the first thing I would check! I am not 100% sure, as there a several different I-POD plugs/interfaces, but for the MINI OEM one, I am pretty sure!!

NOTE: NAV, Ipod, HK, and Aux components are all compatible. However, Ipod is not compatible with the 6-disc CD changer, Sirius Satellite radio, or hands-free phone.

Looks like I may be wrong.....

Not sure what might be wrong.....short of pulling out the head unit, and making sure it is plugged in........
Sorry about the short replays...I just have a 3 yr old crawling around!!
You know how they get when they don't get your undivided attention!!

yes that is the setup i have, yes i have it plugged into the cd changer wires in the back, ( no problem removing head unit is not screw back in yet ) it shuffles then stops, also there was a plug that fit into the back of the HU taped to the harness, i am hoping this was for the factory cd player, looking at the ipod install instructions it looks like 3 wires are removed from the back of the HU, then transfer to the ipod plug, i guess i need to switch these wires back if i want the cd changer to work?

pretty safe bet....just undo what the instructions on the PDF install says....or just put all your cd's on an I-Pod!!
I'll admit....unless you use a loss-less codec, Cd's do sound better!!

i owned it for 6 weeks, changed to JCW intake (actually came with car but not installed correct), autoxcooper.com JSart MINI Wing Tip, 15% pulley upgrade, ireland catback exhaust, 6 cd changer install, extra rims with snows,
to be installed, colder plugs, upgrade air filter, looking to do Under Tower Indurators, seems the best way to prevent mushrooming, stiffening the suspensions on NJ roads is not a wise move in my opinion,
i really like the car, gets about 28 mpg, still smiling every time i drive it!
