General stereo upgrade question

I just got a "new" replacement 05 MCS with the stock radio.

I already have a sub ( JL TW5) w/ a 1 channel amp that will fit in the back.

My question is .. can I just get a wiring harness and keep the existing head unit and add a 4 channel amp with out upgrading all the existing speaker wires? I would really rather avoid that head ache.

Also, is there a a way to add an Ipod jack to the existing cd/radio? I have had the head unit out of my last 04 Mini so I know what is involved there. However, running a wire from the head unit to the battery area for the sub, is a bit intimidateing. Any recomaditionds for speaker replacements are appreciated. I have had Polks in the past and liked them but do need to research this.

Thanks

As far as the amp goes, yes.. there is a converter you can get to run the RCA wires from the sub into instead of the back of an aftermarket HU. You just plug the RCA's into the "RCA Adapter" and then splice the wires on the other end into one of the speakers in the car... the only issue you will have to cover next is getting the remote turn on and off to the amp, running a switch up the front or tapping it into a source (cig lighter) that is only on when the key is on..

or if you are looking for better sound quality and somewhat eletrticaly inclined.... these work amazing... but at that rate, it would be easier to swap out head units

if you find an RCA adapter for your car, you would ony have to run wire as far as the back speaker...

well.. you would still have to run a wire from the amp the engine for power... but if you take it to a car audio place they can install all of this stuff for generally not too much money...

standard rca adapter? or the standard jl converter? for the RCA ADAPTER... check best buy or a car audio shop, they will know what you are talking about and they are usually like $20. for the JL your going to have to find a dealer that sells them to get a price i think im not sure
