Thanks for updating the thread. I just checked with my local dealer (MINI of Birmingham) and he said they recalled the 2009 DVD's from stock a few weeks ago and are scheduled to get the new ones in Thursday.

I have the original DVD that came in my 2007 so I am due for some updates. Even if its just a few a year, that adds up over several years.

So Robin, did you use the MINIUSA website? I am tempted to order as well but was hoping the dealers in the DC area were getting them in this week.

Yes. Closest dealer is >100 miles away. The site said it would ship the next day. Priority Mail should get to me within 3 days from anywhere in the Continental USA.

Did you get the update yet? Any noticeable changes?

I've run into many roads that are on the 07 map disc but are not "digitized" and the system can't give guidance on them.

It has many roads in my area that were not on the disk that came with my 2007 MCS. It also has a ton of new POI's. I am in a rural area and before it had almost nothing here now it has all of our restaurants, etc.

Also my 2007 MCS had all the data on one DVD. This 2010 actually comes on 2 DVD's there is so much more data apparently. One for west coast and one for east coast you would have to change out. I don't know if this is the first year that has happened since this is my first upgraded DVD I have bought for my MINI.

Appears to be single sided. No "DL" and silver color media.

I noticed that it has a perspective view option for the map that I hadn't noticed before. Haven't used it to navigate yet. Nor have I looked at the POIs.

Color scheme is the same, or at least similar; black background to maps. I am fine with that because I wouldn't want the NAV screen lighting up the cabin at night.

I'd love an updated map, but not until I'm sure that it contains the newly reconstructed I-64/US 40 here in St. Louis. I wish you could test drive nav updates online before you have to shell out $200.

There may be a way to do this.

Go to the link Robin posted.
http://store.minigpsmaps.com/

At the bottom, click on Report Map Changes. Pick your language, click on Start.

Then pick any country from the drop down until you get a map display on the left. Zoom out and move it to the area you want to check. You can zoom in and look at their map detail...at least it appears that you can.

I would assume this map display would show their most current map data since if you were to use it to report map changes they would want to always show the most current data to keep from getting redundant map change reports. But I could easily be wrong.

The display doesn't indicate if all the roads shown are actually route-able though. In the Mini, most roads that display as "gray" are non route-able.

That's an awesome site. I had no idea that was there and just entered a few corrections I had.

And there is one new bridge here finished a little less than a year ago and on the website it is shown, but on the new 2010 DVD it is not. So just beware that just because it is on the site, it may not be on the 2010 DVD. I guess the site is showing the updates "live" and this DVD was finalized probably 6 months ago.

I submitted a few changes for my area also. They'll email you tracking info for your changes too so you can follow if they've made the correct changes.

Kevin thanks for confirming the update site's data isn't necessarily what is on the current production DVD.

FYI, if you are someone on the border of the two DVD's and would be crossing state lines a lot, it takes a while to change DVD's. I was just doing this to look up an address for someone and when you put the other coast's DVD in, it comes up and says the system is being upgraded and to turn it off for 5 minutes, just like when you updated the first time.

Not a big deal for me since I rarely if ever will need the other DVD but it could be a little annoying if you live in the Central US and cross borders a lot. You might be able to copy one DVD and just dump on the data for the states you are in the most. Haven't looked at the file structure but its a thought if you are affected.

This was the first time you put in the other DVD, right? I wonder if it needs the 5 min. every time or just the first time it sees that DVD?

I would think the maps would have some overlap. It could get real annoying if you lived on the border and had to swap DVDs whenever you drove to the next town.

Everytime you insert the DVD. I started with East coast 1st time - 5 minutes, West coast first time - 5 minutes, back to East coast 2nd time - 5 minutes.

I did not go over them too closely but looking at the map on both DVD's, the only overlap is Canada is on both. I did not see any of the middle states on both DVD's. Although that would have made a lot of sense.

This is crazy! How is that even acceptable. Sure, i am not in central USA but there has To be more transparent way to do that part of the USA .

I also submitted a correction and received the notice that it's been accepted. That was a month ago for a street that has been that way since June last year. Still the Tele Atlas site doesn't show the road. So perhaps the online map is not Live data but probably moré up to daTe than the DVDs

I'd like to heAr from our central USA MINI drivers to see how that dvdset works for them. Miniusa should post that split map strategy in there advertising and product descriptions.

It looks like almost every road is digitalized now even in rural areas, at least around here. I think that may be a result of having all the extra room by going to two DVD's. I had a Lexus with one DVD like the MINI's previous and most of the roads here were not digitalized on either so it would not give turn by turn except in larger cities or more populated areas. So the two DVD's is a really good thing in general, just not for the egde people.

Picked up my DVD from the local dealer. Was a little surprised about the 2 discs, but I'm on the east coast so not much of an issue. So far so good, it has my address in it, my older one did not.

I wonder if you were traveling cross-country if you couldn't even put an address from another disc. Like you would have to navigate to the edge point and then change discs and put in your address. I'll have to try this.

I noticed a couple of new features, now I can't recall what they were. Anyway, happy I upgraded. The interface is a bit different, and it seems that the street names are easier to read, but I'd have to go back to the old DVD to be sure.

Hi QZ, who had it... Sterling or Passport Mini? I live west of south riding. It would be heart warming to see all of the new streets on the DVD.

Are you noticing that?

Looks like the discs have some redundant states. The split is at the MN, IA, MO, AR, and LA state lines. These states are on both DVDs. Not ideal but at least they did do that for those folks.

Thanks for the update MiniDrivr! That overlap strategy makes sense.

I haven't noticed any new displays. Everything looks the same to me. Colors, fonts, etc. Possibly slightly faster screen refreshes when zooming and moving the cursor around on the map. Only had it a day though and haven't used it on the road yet.
