>>I haven't bought it yet so I can't say for sure that it plugs right in, but I am going to buy this cd/mp3 changer. No need to worry about gaudy faces that way.

>>Then I can burn all my music onto mp3 CD's. Six disks of mp3's is a lot of music!
>>I believe that the cd changer from BMW is Alpine, so I don't anticipate any problems. (fingers crossed)

Let us know how it fits...

This little item sounds like it's perfect. If only it was USB 2.0 or firewire. 20GB over USB 1.1 ugh....

If they release a 2.0 model I'm getting one.

I Have been looking at Mp3 radio's for my mini im getting it in about a week (sold my silver/ black cooper., getting indie blue with aero kit 17's etc...) any ways....

The sony MEXhd1 is USB as well so you dont need to sit there plugging on cd's all day you can copy off your pc straight to the unit, as well as having a memory stick!

im in uk it retails here at some £1400 which i think is nearly $2,000 so think your selfs lucky!:x if i do afford to by it it will still be cheaper to order from usa and pay shipping fee's.

Also the standard speakers in the car are about 20W which is pitiful, if your replacing the head you gotta replace them!, im opting for some JL audio and eventually the JL "stealth box" for mini with 10" sub enlosed in a laser cut fibre class shell

I've already seen some major name brand aftermarket cd/mp3 receivers that are awesome like Sony, Pioneer, or even Kenwood. This type of receiver may be more cost effective and user friendly for most. It plays regular audio CD's and CDR-finalized CD's.

All you need is to burn your music to a CD-R Disc as an MP3 file (the WAV.file systems cost more) and enjoy hours of music in one CD. As for plug in MP3 players, the muss the fuss...not for me. My portable MP3 player is for the gym only.

Visit your nearest Best Buy or Good Guys store to learn more and choose a more practical way for you to listen to your music. And besides, your eyes should be at the road...not the floor because you dropped your player in the passenger's footwell. Hint, Hint!!!

I think that Creative Lab's Nomad Jukebox 3 is the way to go! I have the 40 GB version, and it is awesome!

ALL 560 of my CDs reside on this unit at a high quality transfer rate that makes it sounds excellent wired to my car or home reciever.

I think that this unit is the best bang for the buck ($350-399 depending on where you buy it).

You can also record directly onto it, it has 22 hours of playback time with two lithium ion batteries, and it has a very nice interface!

They ONLY drawback is that it is not pocket-sized, but it is perfect for my everyday applications (home-office-car use). I have a tiny 128 MB that I use for the gym and biking/running/etc).
