USB doubt

Hi everyone,

This is Ignacio, from Madrid, Spain.

I own a 2008 mini cooper S. When I ordered it I didn't ask for the USB port.
My question: is there way I can have a USB port connected to the radio? I have the Mini radio boost (I don’t know if it’s called the same in North America).
Did any one install a USB port after buying the car?
Thanks in advance,

The USB isn't a separate item -- it is only included with the Bluetooth option. MINI is probably using a circuit that integrates both functions. I don't know about the rest of the world but MINIUSA recently announced a very expensive Bluetooth retrofit: http://www.motoringfile.com/2009/10/...-retrofit-kit/

rkw is correct on the USB only being available with the Bluetooth. The USB port shares the ULF module which is the module that runs the bluetooth system. It can not be ordered separately.

Edit: By the way in US dollars the cost of the ULF module is about $1200.00 plus there are other items that also need to be added to the car at last cost estimate put parts at about $4000.00 plus install of about 30 hours (what ever that costs)

If you're looking for just the USB port, the Dension Gateway 500 may be an option (the R56 is listed as compatible, anyways) the car still needs to be re-coded by the dealer to get CD changer support, but it's cheaper than the MINI retrofit kit.

My son (five years old) has a Disney USB MP3 player with a power adapter and aux cable. He uses it in the wife's car. It even has an SD slot. Not exactly integrated, but it was cheap and is discreet.

If you use an Apple Universal Dock, and a USB Car Charger (sig socket) you can have both charging and audio to AUX. You also need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo cable.
