Navigation & Audio Add sirius to 2010 s with Base system
Add sirius to 2010 s with Base system
Bought a 2010 S over the weekend. Dealer was clueless about is needed to add sirius. I have the base sound system but it looks like the ant. on the rear roof is Sat. I hear there is a connection to hook too. Can I use the stock head unit and have it set up. Seems a real hassel for a high tech car in 2010.
What is needed and the aprox cost. Thanks.

You could buy the factory kit for too much/too little and install, then have a knowledgeable dealer program it. Only if you must tune it through your installed base sound system.
Almost all of us have just connected to the MINI's Sat Antenna (under seat) and put audio into AUX Mini Stereo Jack (above forward Console Tray).
You will need to order the Antenna Cable from HERE 5' will be enough for lower dash mount, might want longer for some locations for Sirius/XM Tuner, call Joyce at CD-INT, she is familiar with MINI.
Many Threads in here and 2nd Gen Coupe Talk, here are two- :

google search "Satellite:https://www.northamericanmotoring.com" for more recent threads.
I have the 2003 Delphi SkyFi and use its Remote for tuning.
The current selection of tuners will be better for sirius/xm combined, I like the ability to 'transport' my tuner (and subscription charge) to more than one location. (from car to house, plane, boat, campsite, etc..).
Cost is under $30 for 5' cable and tuners run $50-200 depending on model with frequent half price found in online searches.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Dealer wants 1000 which is BS to hook up Sirius. Had a portable unit in the past but the mobil ant. were junk. Hook up with the installed Ant. will be perfect.
Okay, I did the install of a Sirius Stiletto just to the right of the speedo using a ProClip dash mount. I used the factory antenna (connected with two extension cables). I connected the power to the delayed power circuit (stays powered for about a 30 minutes after lock, and if you keep turning the radio on without the key). And then used the Aux in.

I used this ProClip (since I have the secret compartment). I then mounted the Stiletto cradle directly to this. Proclip has device holders if you need them, I did not.
In one of the electrical threads others describe using a BUSS add-a-circuit (mini blade fuse) and connecting it to different circuits in the car. I used one of those and I believe I used the navigation fuse (but the radio one should work for you too). I love it! The Stiletto turns on immediately when I unlock the doors with the fob (or open a door if the car is unlocked in the garage) and it stays powered for around a half hour after I leave the car (and it stays powered if I am sitting in the car and keep turning the radio on without the key).
