A couple of comments:

1) Changing the Genre to first letters of artist is a very creative solution, and I'm glad it's a solution for many of you. However, I personally totally dislike having to massage my library for a specific vehicle or player. Our home music library is used by a variety of media players (media center, wmp, itunes, etc) and the base library is imported into various family member's ipods and iphones etc, so I don't want to muck up the Genres that we actually use in other situations when looking for Classic Rock, Folk, Jazz, etc. I spend a lot of time making sure all the tags are correct and that the library works in both iTunes and WMP.

2) The USB interface is somewhat more useful because you have the option of scrolling by directory, and thus you can when you write the music onto the USB drive, structure the directory hierarchy to first be A, B, C, D, etc, and then by artist within those directories.

The slow scroll is a serious deficiency, and incredibly frustrating. I might look into building a USB switch so I can quickly flip between iPhone screen control and Mini USB head unit control without having to disconnect the iPhone from the jack.

..Roger
