iPhone mount, Kuda + Proclip?

I want to mount my iphone 3gs in the MINI so I can make use of the gps apps. Its not working out very well with the phone on my lap or in the cup holder.

I like the way the kuda base is mounted next to the speedo but their iphone holders are expensive and bulky.

I also like the swivel and adjustable iphone holder from proclips but am not too crazy about the mounting location of their base mount.

I read there might be issues with the depth of the proclip swivel plus the kuda mount putting the phone too close to the steering wheel or something. Does anybody have any pictures showing this combination?

Thanks for your help…

I'm interested in this too Max. I have also been looking at KUDA and Proclip amongst other things and am still not satisfied with anything currently out there. Jeremy's set up is nice but I'm not sure I want to stick something on with double sided tape. I ordered a window mount but I'm not going to stay with that. I emailed Kellen at Craven Speed about their Ipod mount for my Iphone 3gs, but have not heard anything yet. I like their set up the best, it is simple and relatively inexpensive compared with KUDA and Proclip. I hope he comes up with something.

I priced out the panel that its stuck to, ~$33. So if you ever decide to return to 'stock' a replacement panel is relatively cheap. I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't just remove the mount and use some goo-gone to get rid of the sticky.

ProClip Plus Kuda/Carcomm cradle

Hi,

I ordered the Kuda mount for the right side of the center panel (NOT the one by the steering wheel) and their cradle. IMHO, the center panel mount base is not well thought out. It has two tabs that stick in between the panels and is secured with a screw on the right side. The lower of the two tabs slides in next to the temperature control wheel and it causes the wheel to bind. I monkeyed with it and managed to scratch the plastic wheel. I then e-mailed Kuda and they did reply promptly saying that they were waiting for new instructions to come out and that the lower tab wasn't necessary and to just bend it under. That being said, I think the location is not optimal and without the lower tab it is a bit wobbly, even with the screw. So, I scrapped that idea and bought the ProClip mount and put the Kuda/Carcomm cradle on that. Problem solved, except that there was a bad run of the Kuda/Carcomm cradles with some bad connections on the PCB. I ended up going through three, with the third working like a charm -- the other two were from the bad batch and Kuda replaced them for free. I bundled the coiled cables in the pocket on the inside of the passenger footwell and ran them up behind the side panel to the aux input and the 12V outlet. Had to get a Y-connector to finish it off, but I am now quite happy with how it works. After reading many reviews of inferior sound quality with other cradle solutions, the Carcomm one seemed the best bet and the sound is nice.

Mike
