I know all you mini drivers have some kind of custom sub box in your mini. Im looking to get some ideas on a box to build and a amp rack/location. Ive done a search and found **VERY** little on the subject. (1 or 2 cars and they were like pro set ups. I would like to keep my back seat..) Ive been to car audio forums and found **VERY** little. If you dont want to post a pic, please send it to my email. Ive never had to build a box for such a small car. *LOL* I need to get some ideas/designs to get me started. I havent desided yet if Im going with 1 12" sub or 2 10" subs. Whats your take on the size sub I should go with. Thanks for ANY help you can give me.

Lets see if this help you out. These are two Diamond Audio TDX 10" free air subs. The boxes are the minimum size for proper sound according tothe engineer in charge of the project. there are a bunch of pics of the install as well as the individual components on my site. Hope this helps,RandyPage Title maxmini audio

I do not have a picture of my setu up, but here is a description. I have a Punch amp running my door and rear speakers and a MTX 6500 class d amp running a 12" Kicker square Solobaric. The box is a closed box with only one inch around the speaker (this sub is awesome because you only need a small closed box). I have the amps and fuses mounted ona carpeted board with four computer fans cooling the sub's amp. I actually have half of my trunk for my computer bag and it sounds great. I will get picks and send it to you.

>>I'll tell you what, This car has NO room!!!! I guess thats part of the fun.
It does have room but there is limited space that is in balance with room to install what you want to do.
So one easy solution is the JL stealthbox and amp in the boot with room to spare. If the amp is on the floor then a flase floor can go over it and you can store things again and still have some decent bass. Just pick a good amp.
JL stealthbox with Xtant 4.4 amp in boot.

The isntall was done by Frank and his crew at Traffic Jammz in encino Ca.There is a link to his shop on the sponsors page of my site. He was voted the number 4 installer in the country this year by car audio magazine at this years CES show. He definatly knows his stuff.Page Titlemaxmini home site

Custom Removable Sub Enclosure
This is from a Custom ICE installation featured in the October 2004 issue of Car Audio & Electronics.
This one appeals to me because it is lightweight and easily removable and retains much of the styling of the MINI interior.
. Snapped into the stock deck lid points.
. Enclosure with Grille Removed
.With entire sub enclosure removed.
The entire article is available in PDF format here

my plan is to build a false floor...
u can just cut some plywood to fit over the floor and then get one of the shallower subs and put ur sub under the floor along with ur amps...i'd get some 16" electric actuators and put a switch in to raise the false floor if i needed to access the sub(s) and amps...wouldn't cost too much and would still give u ALL of the floor space for groceries, etc...but it wouldn't be as tall, so if ur luggage goes all the way to the shelf, then it wouldn't fit any longer...
jl stealth box with banana clips would be an easy way to just plug a sub in and then remove for trips where space is a premium...

damn, after reading this thread i have to go fiberglass something in there tomorrow! Havent took the boot apart yet but if theres any spots behind the panels that are under the windows, ill cut any metal and stuff that looks like i dont need. Than cover it all in foil and expanding foam after and make myself a mold for a FG enclosure. Hopefully theres a little room to be had. I love glassing and making custom stuff

This is in the MCS that I just bought, that is still sitting in New York no thanks to Nationwide Auto Transport, the worlds shadiest trucking company. But nonetheless, it is mine.
I put in a false floor to match the level to the boot and to add a concealed storage area. The cargo net is to protect the sub from cargo when driving and the bull head is for, well, I am not sure.
And my nav screen plays DVDs
