trunk rattles from subwoofers, will Dynamat eliminate rattles?

basically, it is pretty simple

i have 2 12" subwoofers pointing towards the back of my mini

trunk rattles like crazy of course, my license plate holder has cracked!

if i go to best buy and have them apply dynamat inside the trunk,

will this fix the rattle problem?

has anyone with subwoofers done this?

will it completely 100% get rid of the rattles?

Thanks!

If your license plate trim has truely cracked because of the Sub Woofers then there it is doubtful that just dynamat will help you problem.

Of course it can not hurt to have it done but the real problem is that the panels are rattling and you need to have them held on tighter. There are many ways of trying to fix that including felt tape (available from your dealer, i now of no ohter place that sells it), or check the local auto parts store for anti rattle tapes and then remove every panel and replace all the clips avaliable from the dealer that hold tehm in place. The reason to repalce all the clips is tha tonce they are taken out they will never be as tight as band new ones. And also tape up the edges of every panel with the anti rattle tape before putting them back on.

Yes, dynamat will make a huge difference. The R56's panels in the back are pretty tight, just make sure after you dynamat it that all the clips are put on properly. I dynamatted the skin of the car the backside of the plastic panels and the back of the license plate. I dont have a single rattle yet. You can also use double sided tape on the back of your license plate. You got any pictures of your setup?

I put a sheet of dynamat on the inside of my trunk meaning the painted metal inner part of my hatch. Also did the back of my license plate. It seems to work from the outside and inside but there are still rattles. Sure, it helped a bit, about 50% less rattles but they are definitely still there.

what do you mean by skin of the car? do u mean the painted metal inner part of your trunk?

I never thought to put dynamat on the backside of the plastic panels. That actually makes more sense since its the plastic panels that are actually rattling right? maybe I should remove the black plastic panel from my trunk permanently haha

I'll take pics tomorrow when its light out
