Uninstalling ProClip Mount

Much has been written in this forum about installing mounts for MP3 players, mobile phones, satellite radio head units, and the like. In fact, it proved invaluable to us when we decided to install a Sirius Sportster 5 head unit in our 2007 Cooper S hardtop. We went with the ProClip mount, which is installed along the dash between the two gloveboxes.

We just bought a 2009 Clubman and are in the process of selling our 2007 MINI. We want to remove the mount and head unit from our old car and install it in the new one and wondered if anyone has removed the ProClip before. If so, any words of wisdom before we try to pry it from the dash? I searched the forum and did not see any mention of this.

Many thanks!

Jay

should be pretty straight forward.... might have some adhesive residue left over on the dash.... but you can usually get that off with a bit of rubbing. Not even sure why the put the adhesive on the in the first place. I just got one and it clips on so tight....

Thanks, Galoki. I suspect you're right and I agree that the adhesive was probably unnecessary in the first place. It's because ours clamped onto the dash so well that I am a little concerned about prying it off.

Well, Galoki was right. We removed the ProClip mount from the dash of our 2007 MCS and installed it in our new Clubman without incident today. We essentially reversed the installation instructions and had to remove a little adhesive, but it was a fairly straightforward process.

question about your 2007 and satellite radio

I have a base model 2007 and have read about a "farka" cable which attaches under the passenger seat and is like a different way of running an antenna...being that the fm antenna doubles automatically into a satellite antenna as well. Is that the way you went, or did you do the magnetic mount that comes with most car kits? Thanks, Pat
