upgrading Hi-Fi

Ok first, I am sorry for starting a new thread that there is TONS of info already about. But I am in the market for ugrading the Hi-Fi system in my R56. I searched through some already existing threads to find out some info about this car, but there seems to be alot of trial and error and looks rather complicated to upgrade the already "Hi-Fi" system.

My first few questions:
1. Do i do the front/ rear channel swap?
2. Coponents vs Coaxials for the front (5.25's or 6.5's?)
3. What speakers sound good on the stock amp?

I already have a 10" Boston Acoustics G5 in the back running off an Rockford 400rms 2 channel amp tapped into the rear speaker channels. I want to upgrade all speakers for a good value. $200-$300? opinions??

No. Doing the swap at the X9331 connector doesn't help with the HIFI.

I used Component 6.5" Infinity Kappas in the front. Tweeter goes in the A-pillar, but there was no room for the crossover. Not really happy with the sound from the tweeters. Problem could be with my aging ears, lack of crossover, or...

The Kappas are OK, but I haven't heard others to know whether there are better for the price. They are on the bright side, if that is what you like.

Is your Rockford tapped into the X9331 connector under the dash? Or, are you tapping in after the rear amp? You want to be tapping in at the X9331, or somewhere before the rear amp.

It would be very beneficial to move the tap to the X9331 connector rather than after the amp.

One other note is that the head unit outputs speaker level signals to the amp in the range of about 11-14 volts max. the output of the amp is around 22 volts.

Some line level inputs on some amps will take a much higher voltage than others so check what the specs are for your particular amp to see what might work best.

Edit:
on your question about components. I have teh Focal 165V3 set in front with out the crosovers installed at this time and they sound much better than the OEM. I had the cross overs wired in for testing and foudnteh sound to be even better. but due to weather and space restraints i have nto had the oportunity to get them installed permenently yet.
