No Nav screen on startup

Hey guys I am having an issue that I hope someone can help me with...BLUE

I'm running an 04 MCS with NAV and Bluetooth via the upgrade kit. Anyway, it has working like a champ. But now I don't get the startup screen when I turn on the car. after about 5 minutes the screen comes on. so it still works. Any thoughts? I have changed my battery and that fixed it for a while but now it is back to doing it. It is also not very cold. It worked through the winter it is only now acting up.

I'm waiting for the computer to tell me it is time for service, apparently another 2k miles. That is scary in its self, is this lying to me? I mean, if the nav screen is on the fritz is the system computer on the fritz? sorry if this sounds desperate but this is my 1st BMW/MINI car and I am not used to the not having service intervals. It scares me!

In the past it's been reported that the Nav is slow to start up when the battery is on its way out. If your MINI is an '04 that's the first thing I'd do to address it. I'm not one for parts troubleshooting, but after five years, your battery has 'had a good life'.

Thanks for the input. That is what I was afraid of. I just replaced the battery not 4 months ago. Albeit not with a factory battery, something I got from Autozone. Is there a way that I can test the battery or at least find out if something is draining it? I would be afraid that my alternator might be going. This is a used car and I have not yet been told by the almighty computer to bring it in for its service interval. I might just do it anyway see what they think. Not looking forward to that bill!

Thanks
Jon
