Looking for good remote power wire for Amp

I installed a new amp this weekend. I grabbed remote power off the fuse box. But it only gives me juice while the car is running. I believe I tapped into the a fuse that powers the cig. lighters. What I really want is a power source that turns on when the key is put in or when the stereo turns on like a power antenna wire?

Any help would be appreciated.

I read another thread further down, and I think I am going to go with F6, which is powered by 30G which should turn off in 30 minutes.

A bunch of us are going along this path. The choices seem to be a circuit such as the aux power in the boot, which is switched by the ignition, a 30g circuit which comes on when the doors open and goes off some time later, and deriving a radio-on signal from the radio outputs.

On the last one, I just posted that to another thread, doing what I believe some of the level converter boxes to do generate a radio on signal -- rely on the fact that the radio outputs are totem pole, so that when the radio is on, the outputs float at around VCC/2.

Look at the "how do you switch your amps" thread.

...and have fun!

just push the start button without pushing the clutch. (equiv to 2 clicks on a normal key ignition system).

it turns on the battery to power everything in the car...without starting engine. Just watch that it doesnt drain your battery

check it out. i didnt test yet, but its another way, no? hope this works, in a few days im going to do it..
question, where did you get the signal to "feed" the amp?? the X9331 conector?

For a standard Mini sound system, the X9331 connector is the place to pick up the audio signals you need.

The reference you cited is a good one if you need to run heavy duty power for a large amp. One of the beauties of the small boss audio bass600 package is that it draws under 15 amps, which can be run on the aux power circuit available in the boot. This makes the installation much, much easier!

i have a quick question. im going to be instaling a sub in a few days and i was going to get the signal from the x9331 connector. i did the channel swap so do i just tap into the wire that feed my 6x9s and run that to the amp? also on the how-to-link how is the wire connected to the 32 fuse? is it simply put in that slot and the fuse placed in its slot?

thanks

Yes, pick off the signal from x9331 to the 6x9 speakers -- I found that to be the most convenient, rather than dismantling the rear of the car to get to the rear speaker wiring.

Don't know on the power wiring, as I stole mine from the rear aux circuit, which has plenty of power for the little bass600 package.

Have fun!
