iPhone 3G mount ideas

Open to any idea.
I plan to get the Kensington LiquidAux for power and aux input, but trying to find the right place to mount the phone. The big issue is that I have a leather case en route so a custom iPhone 3G mount won't work (haven't seen the case yet but don't think I'll want to be pulling the thing in and out of the case every time), so will probably need a universal mount of some kind.

Considering a window mount via suction cup (but not sure if the cord will reach to the left side and the center may be too obstructive of the view) and looked a the Kuda mounts. Kuda is awfully expensive and not sure what phone adapter I'd need to get.

Also, not looking for a mount that replaces the big cup holder...I may be one of the few that actually likes it.

Would prefer it to be fairly close so I can read the GPS without squinting...

Ideas?

I've been looking for something with a gooseneck like the Tuneflex Nano used for a couple of years with my Ford Escort. I need something a little classier now for the new vehicle.

i used an adjustable proclip mount for my 3G inside a rebel case:

once adjusted, the phone slides in and out cleanly.
no need to pull the phone from the rebel case.
using a griffin auto pilot to power the 3G and to provide a signal to the aux out.

i use the proclip that mounts on the driver's side downtube.
alternately, you could order the kuda mount (and ask them to substitute
for the version which mounts on the driver's side tube, since
the one on the website replaces the existing cup holder)

the part number for that starts with a '1' instead of a '0'

the proclip adjustable iphone mount will mate up w/ either by a couple
of self tapping screws.

i'm currently using the proclip downtube mount since i had one left
over from my ipod 3g installation which i didn't use. (used a belkin
mount for that install)

now that i've installed the nav interface and power take off kits from
newministuff, my center console area is much cleaner.
