I’m sure my questing has been asked before in this forum but I just can’t find the specific answer that I’m looking for, so here goes!
I’ve finally had it with the HK system and I’m ready to replace the entire thing! I’ve found a few head units that have an Auto interrupt or Auto Mute AUX input an was hoping to be able to run audio output from the factory NAV into this input and save the NAV audio, however at this point I’m willing to give it up!

Does anybody know what the output signal of the NAV consist of is it low level audio or a digital signal? Also, what is the polarity of the two yellow wires coming from the NAV to the factory HU.

The two yellow wires coming from the NAV plugs into the AUX input on the factory radio so think this will work?

I have one more for you, if I bypass the complete HK system and remove the HK amp will I lose any of the NAV function?

 

The only nav function affected by the stereo is the voice ... I know Mikey has a stand-alone that feeds nav to a speaker, interrupting the normal stereo output to that speaker. So there's definitely options.

Remember though, the H/K amp and speakers work together and you should plan to replace both or neither!
