JL Audio Stealthbox vs a W3 12' box??

I'm currently looking for "the best" subwoofer(s) for my car (2005 Mini cooper r50.). I'm all for getting the 12' w3 box from jl but i've seen the stealth box just now.. so what would be a good choice? and is there a way to get two stealth boxes (One on each side) if it's better bass than the w3?

it really depends on what you're going for. stealth boxes give you a clean install and some trunkspace. but getting 2 of them (not that it's possibly) would be totally defeating the purpose. for the price and if space is not a concern i'd go with a w3. they'll give better bass IMO. at the end of the day, its really you that needs to decide what they want; space vs sound, etc

it doesn't take much to get great bass in this car. I have two old school Kicker free-air 6x9 subwoofers run with 200w each and people don't believe me that there's no huge box in the back until I show them. A Stealthbox is designed to give maximum quality in the space allotted. I had a W6 version in my Legacy GT wagon and a single drive with 600w on it was enough to make it painful to sit in the car with a bass-heavy track. The MINI set up uses a lower end driver but that has more to do with xmax and power handling...given the smaller interior, a larger driver was deemed overkill along with taking up precious space.

The Stealthbox is built to fit the driver's side, not the passenger side, so two of them isn't an option. I had originally thought about removing the rear seats and installing two 12w7's but then realized I was smoking crack.

two 12w7 subs + enclosure = 1 average person's weight

i used to have a 13w7 + 1000/1 in the rear of my old MC, the box was so big that i couldn't fully recline the seats. with the box tuned for sound quality, it hit 139.7db with the windows open in the 1st and only DB drag i joined with it

Ah. Ok, i'll be getting the 12' W3 . I'm not sure which version it is..

and one more thing.. The store that's selling the w3 has a epicenter for $200, but i see on ebay that they have a used one for $100 free shipping. Are they both the same? or did audio control make different models in the past?

hmm. I managed 141db in 1994 with a 15W6 in sealed box and a Phoenix Gold MS2125 in my old Prelude. The same amp in the same car hit 137db with my old slot-ported trio of 8W6's.
