New iPhone software

I just recently updated my old 1st gen iPhone to the new 2.0 OS. I've noticed a few things about the phone itself but the biggest related to my MINI is that when it's connected via Bluetooth I don't have the same reception issues as I had before the upgrade.

Allow me to elaborate. With the old OS, if I had WiFi turned on and the phone connected via Bluetooth the connection would cut in and out and was basically terriable. Once I turned WiFi off this went away. Now that I have the new 2.0 OS installed this doesn't seem to be an issue anymore, at least for me. I can leave the WiFi turned on, haven't tested with it connected to anything, and still connect via Bluetooth to the car and it's just as clear as it was before when I had the WiFi off.

Was wondering if any other iPhone users have experienced this or any other weird occurances?

I'd be interested in your battery life with both BT and WiFi turned on. I'm considering an iPhone but battery life is one of my concerns (of course).

I noticed that before 2.0, when i had my phone plugged into the Y cable, i could shut off the car, unplug, then replug back in later to have the car remember the last song and settings i had turned on. eg Random..

Now, if i unplug, or even leave plugged in, come back later and it doesnt remember the song it was on or anything.

anyone else notice this?

On my gen 1 phone, I drained the battery exactly once. On this occasion, I spent approximately four hours watching movies on the phone, spent most of the day talking on the phone with my mother after that, and forgot to stick it on the charger for the two days surrounding these events. Battery life is great.

Apple has designed the battery life so that if you stick it on the charger every night, you can use the phone and all of its associated features all day long.

While my battery life isn't quite as good as RandomGemini's it is still pretty good. After a years use I haven't had the phone die on me once. It's hit the 20% warning a few times but never died. I try to charge it every night but have occasionally missed it, I've done this with all my phones.

I always leave Bluetooth on and now that I don't have any reception issues I always leave WiFi on too. I do have it set to not tell me every time it has discovered an access point. I did this because it was annoying but it may have an impact on battery life as well. The phone doesn't seem to activate the WiFi unless it is trying to send/receive data anyway.

Haven't had any problems with WiFi and BT on with mine running 2.0. I never had a mini when I had the version 1 software. It works perfectly for me songs stop I take the call then songs start right back. Texting, Talking, and Listening all works flawlessly and I am a heavy user and never had a hiccup. Mine also starts playing the last song I was listening too when I plug back into the car. I get about a days worth of useage with all my features and sending around 200-300 texts a day. I am working on breaking the 8K texts a month mark.

The bluetooth being on all the time is what sucks down your battery life. I only have the bluetooth turned on when I am in the car. I get bad WIFI interference on my headset so I tend to not use it when I'm in the house, or near a starbucks.

Speaking of that... I gotta get a new bluetooth headset...
