Living with Nav - default display?

Hi. What does the integrated nav display by default? Scenario: I hop into the car to pop down to the market. If I glance at the nav, what do I see? Does it sit and wait for me to choose Navigation, Communication, Entertainment, or Setup each and every time I start the car? Is there a setting to pick which is the default?

Sorry if this has been asked and answered a million times. A cursory search didn't turn up a likely topic.

It will go to whatever you had it at last. Mine usually shows NAV pointing north zoomed out just before I lose the ability to see side streets.

If you're contemplating getting one do it.

It should return to whatever screen was displayed when you turned off the car.

Perfect. Thank you!

I'm pretty much wanting the in-built Nav. The "ring" speedo appeals to me, as does the apparent ability to use it as an interface for various car settings. Already have a Nuvi (love it) that I use for rentals, wife's car, etc. I'm tired of wires dangling all over the place and people are busting into cars that leave even mounts visible these days.

On any BMW/Mini it's a must. Any Nav system that's so integrated into the car and does more than just tell you directions is a must.
