Ipod no longer recognized....

My wife and I recently bought our 08 MC with comfort package and were loving our Ipod integration until the other day. We can hear the Ipod via the aux input, but are no longer able to control/charge the Ipod. We can even take out the USB portion of the cable and still hear it....I have tried the 3 Ipods that we have in our house and although they worked up the other day, none are working now....

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated for we are about 75 miles from our nearest Mini center and will be travelling cross country soon.....

Something similar happened to me this morning. My iPod's battery had drained, so it had a funky icon on the screen. I popped it on the PC to rejuvenate it, then plugged it back in and it worked fine.

The other not-so-easy thought is that your USB jack has died.

I'd try plugging your iPod back into your PC then try it back in your MINI (pull the USB out, then firmly plug it back in just to make sure it's seated well)...if that does not work I'd fear a USB issue.

Good luck!
