Calling All Verizon Users!
So we have a wonderful bluetooth compatibility list & a very informative spreadsheet, Thanks much to dominicminicoopers & nicknbecka and all the other most helpful people!
The one thing we are lacking however is a carrier specific list. Verizon has recently added a bunch of new phones that are not on our previous lists and I thought it might be a good idea if we could gather some info about these most desirable phones so the new folks (of which I am one) can find a phone that will work fully with their new Mini.
So those of you that have a Verizon phone please help us out.
When posting please include the following information...
Phones of most interest...
THANK YOU!

2. not sure if this is what you wanted (grabbed from options, there's no Setup/Tools menu): v4.3.0.60 (Platform 3.1.0.32)
3. Yep - pairs/connects successfully (that first time, as has been pointed out, you need to get the codes synched in pretty short order, ~10 seconds, or start over...took me 3 tries to figure it out, i think)
4. Dials/receives successfully. It actually has its own 'old-school' ringtone
5. Transfers entire phonebook as individual items (i.e. one listing that has home/office/mobile will show up as 3 lines); keeps track of top callers, last callers...but ONLY when connected, i.e., it doesn't resynch to give you the last/top callers that you've had, just the ones you had while it was paired
6. Just tried voice activation, it works fine! on this note, is there any way to change the voice between male/female, US vs UK English, etc.?
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info on your Q porifera.
It does seem that there is some inconsistency with certain phones on the same firmware. Have been trying to learn more about what bluetooth module BMW has been installing in the R56 and if indeed the modules in the 2007 & 2008 are different... and also if the addition of the OEM Nav has an impact on which module is used.
If anyone has definitive info about this please fill us in. The information I have found implies it would be BMW's 13th generation module but I can't find any documentation to back this up.

OK, so to summarize so far, it looks like we still don't have a current verizon phone which fully integrates with the MINI Bluetooth. Is that correct? The Voyager looked like it did at first, but others have said no phonebook.
As for PDA's, the Blackberry 8130 Pearl looks like it fully integrates.
Keep the info coming. It is much appreciated.

Much of this information is in this thread. It is long but if you read the whole thing you will learn a lot. It is a sticky at the top of the Generation 2 > NAV & AUDIO Section.

richs10... Currently am leaning toward a Blackberry Curve or World edition when my early upgrade comes up next month. Blackberry seems to work fairly consistently. Would love to have a Navigator but it's just not an option.
schatzy62... Thanks for the info. Will do some research on the Gen 11 module. Have checked out bimmernav.com and europeanautosource.com too trying to find the most accurate information. Wish Mini would put together a more detailed bluetooth manual.

I have been doing research myself at the Mini Tech site. It is expensive to use but well worth it to me. i know have a bunch of diargams for the stereo and bluetooth systems.
According to the Mini Tech site the 07 and 08 MC/MCS/MCC/MCCS all use the latest Gen 11, 12 or 13 Modules depending on the build date of the vehicle. There is really very little changes in the actual operation of the module itself. Mostly hardware changes and software changes to enhance voice quality, and connection speed, although it is supposed to allow for more phone to be able to connect.
The funny thing i found out is that the ULF module is also responsible for USB functions for audio input from a USB Thumb Drive or iPod. It also controls other radio, bluetooth, usb, aux audio input to the radio, Central Display, and a few other modules. Although the Central Display is controlled by at least 5 other modules.
This page shows the end of life for the ULF modules but does not say if Mini follows the same rules and dates. http://www.bimmernav.com/ulfchanges.html
Which Verizon Phones Work With Bluetooth?
I am having a hard time figuring out which Verizon phones will work seamlessly with the bluetooth on my new Clubman. Does anyone know if the Envy 2 works like the Envy, which is on the good list?
What about the LG XV9400? What about the Chocolate? My Samsung phone does not work as it freezes up every time. I need to find a Verizon phone that is not Motorola to use since we have a new law coming in July about talking on cell phones.
Thanks.

I considered listing reports as carrier-specific initially, but it added another set of data to track that nobody was providing. So far I haven't seen any evidence of there being a difference, so I decided that I'd add it if it to specific phones as differences became apparent.
From what I understand, the entire VX series is Verizon exclusive, so any previous reports on those should apply.
I've got a bunch of new info to add to my spreadsheet from the past couple weeks, specifically on the Voyager, which (thanks schatzy62) is known to work with the LGVX10KV03 firmware only as he's already mentioned.
It's tough to say- I think a lot of the problems have to do with user error, or limited testing. Lots of reports look like: Samsung 900 works! It makes it tough to say whether they've tested for complete compatibility.
So far, it seems to be a problem with lesser-used phones, since they're reported less often. One person had a problem with the BlackJack 2, and for a long time all we had was two different reports. There's been enough now to where I think the one with a problem is an isolated case.
I've only got two phones with unresolved conflicting reports right now. The Q was particularly tough to find reports on- I probably spent a couple hours scouring for the one report I found on NAM. (
Try searching NAM for 'Q' doh! 'Q Bluetooth' grrrr... 'Motorola Bluetooth', etc, etc, etc...)
Schatzy, I was wondering about this myself. I was under the impression that the R56 switched the car ICE network over to a MOST bus. At least, this is the explaination that I've been seeing when people talk about previous iPod/ICE adapters not working with the newest generation of cars?
The VX9400 has been reported to work, but it's not exactly a detailed report, the Chocolate is on the officialy supported list. Straight out of my spreadsheet on the enV2:

I have spoken with them a few times and they are being very closed lipped about the details, just as my local dealer is. My understanding is that the Mini's 2007/2008 are all on Gen 11 bluetooth modules as the 12/13 Gen are for the latest BMW MOAT system only. The Mini's still run on IBUS System. This information was extrapolated from three conversations with the people at bimmernav.com.

Compatibility with the MINI is very dependent on the phone's firmware version, firmware version number LGVX910KV03 is known to work correctly and sync the phone's address book, but later versions (ending in V05 and V07) break compatibility with R56 Minis. Can you add a column to your information: Armrest Cradle Availability
Apparently there are differences between Razr models where the charging port is flipped and then the cradle will not work. I have been told this is the case for my Razr V3m.
thanks!

Thanks for your detailed reply nicknbecka. Really appreciate all the hard work you have put in tracking down bluetooth compatibility information. I hear ya on the conflicting and/or vague phone reports and the difficulty in searching for specific information. Its darn frustrating at times.
The idea with this thread was to hopefully get a few more details about Verizon's latest phones to help the recent influx of new Mini owners & Verizon users that are currently struggling to find a fully compatible phone. Am planning to pass the info on to you in spreadsheet form after there has been a decent number of replies so you can add any new info to your spreadsheet.
Thanks again!

Schatzy, I was wondering about this myself. I was under the impression that the R56 switched the car ICE network over to a MOST bus. At least, this is the explaination that I've been seeing when people talk about previous iPod/ICE adapters not working with the newest generation of cars?
http://www.minitechinfo.com/
I have found that the electronics schematics show that R55/R56 for 07/08 do have the MOST bus system. At least according to the info provided.
The other perplexing thing is that this link shows that the NEW iPhone adapter code is 6NF and that it will not be available until the 09 versions come out.
http://www.motoringfile.com/2008/05/...ection-for-09/
But according to the MiniTechInfo Web Site Electrical Schematics the 6NF code is already being used in the 07/08 Mini's with the Convenience Package.
So what it the true answer? I do not know.
I will someday find the bluetooth module in my car and check to see what part number is on it. that will at least tell me what i have in my vehicle. Although this may not answer all the questions either
Not sure if it's considered the '1st edition' or not, but wireless4mini.com lists the Chocolate as officially compatible with firmware version: T85VZB03
Your tagline says your Clubman is "coming soon".
What is the firmwear version of your phone? (#2)
Did it voice dial? (#6)
Thanks, Rich
Well, I have a "plain old Motorola Q" and it behaves the same as your Q9M:
- Motorola Q
- Software Version:
- MP_BSP_C_02.07.55-30P_HW_P2.1
- OS: 5.1.195 (Build 14960.2.4.0)
- Radio: Q2-BP_C_06.0B.13P
- Pairs successfully, can receive calls
- Dials Successfully, using the phone, phone book does not transfer successfully, so dial from console does not work
- Phonebook transfer hangs forever so communication in nav is unusable
- Voice Dial does not work
I undertstand that they don't *****-nilly flash the firmware with a later version without a need, cause for it.

A co-worker just got the Motorola Q9C. I tried to pair her phone with my car. Works 100%, vs Q9M, which doesn't do phone book.
- Motorola Q 9 C
- Hardware Version:MP_BSP_C-04.08.65-07P_NM_P3.0, Software Version:NL-BP-C-03.20.2FP, OS: 5.2.1810 (Build 18325.0.6.3)
- Pairs successfully, can receive calls, caller ID displays
- Dials Successfully
- Phonebook does transfer successfully
- Voice Dial does work
