So when are the companies gonna get off their butts and incorporate an mp3 reader in their cd players.......if not the shufflers (150 songs on each of 6 disks!!!! sign me up!!!)

They are already here.

Alpine makes a changer that can be adapted to the stock Boost or HK systems that plays mp3 encoded disks. Many companies make in-dash CD (and DVD) players that can read mp3 CDs as well.

MINI is supposed to have an mp3-capable in-dash headunit for the '04 models if I am not mistaken.

You can use a 6 disc sony mp3 changer with connect2 interface
The mini standard stereo won't display ID3 tags though

The Alpine CHA-S634 for one is a 6-disk mp3 changer. You need the Blitzsafe ALP DMX1 adaptor and the Alpine KCA-130B adaptor to hook it all up. The steering wheel controls will work, but you don't see the ID3 tags on the headunit display, just a disk-track number set.

Required adapter (reccomended by my Mini dealer and Alpine)

FYI: you can find the changer for less than $250 shipped from many reputable dealers on ebay.
